Dedicated Leadership for Hayward

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my commitment to Hayward.
I am a Bay Area native, a mother, a lawyer, and a former substitute teacher. For the past four years, it has been my privilege to serve as your Hayward City Councilmember. My husband Robert and I and our two children have called Hayward home for 22 years, including more than 16 years as homeowners.

My commitment to public service began with volunteering at my children’s school and grew through seven years of service on Hayward’s Planning Commission and Community Services Commission. Those experiences taught me that effective local government starts with listening to the people who live here, understanding the challenges they face, and bringing people together to find practical solutions.

Over the past four years on the City Council, I have focused on making Hayward a safer, more sustainable, and stronger community.

Public Safety: As a member of the City Council’s Public Safety Committee, I have worked to make community safety a priority and to support effective, accountable public safety services. I believe our residents deserve to feel safe in their homes, on our streets, and throughout our community.

Environmental Protection and Sustainability: Protecting our environment has been a lifelong commitment. I currently serve on Hayward’s Sustainability Committee and represent our community on the regional Ava Community Energy Board, where I work to advance clean energy, sustainability, and environmental justice. During my time on the Ava Community Energy Board, I have approved new Critical Municipal Facilities in Hayward, both at our downtown Firestation and at the Corps Yard, programs to assist Hayward residents with purchasing e-bikes, replacing gas stoves with induction cooking, and replacing gas hot water heaters with more environmentally friendly heat pump water heaters.

Investing in Hayward’s Future: In 2024, I co-chaired the campaign for Measure K1, a local sales tax ballot measure that will generate approximately $400 million over 20 years for Hayward. I was proud to help lead a successful campaign that gives our community important resources to invest in Hayward’s future.

Community and Regional Leadership: My commitment to public service extends beyond City Hall. For the past 14 years I have worked as a Pro Bono Attorney helping older adults sort through their most difficult issues involving assistance benefits, financial abuse, housing insecurity, and elder abuse. I also serve as the Liaison to the Hayward Literacy Plus Council, a committed group of volunteers supporting programs that boost literacy in our community.

My work on the City Council continues to be guided by the same principles that brought me into public service in the first place: listen first, collaborate whenever possible, and then take action.

For my next four years, I will focus on:
•    Good governance and protecting the city’s financial future
•    Keeping our community safe and our streets clean
•    Continuing to find opportunities to provide more affordable housing
•    Strengthening Hayward’s economic vitality
•    Protecting our environment and advancing environmental justice
•    Ensuring that our city remains a place where families can build a good life

Four years ago, I asked for your trust to serve on the Hayward City Council. Now, while I know we have significant issues to tackle at City Hall, I am asking for your continued trust and support in my bid for re-election to the newly created District 6, this time with four years of experience and a record of working to make a difference for our community.

There is still important work ahead, and I look forward to continuing to listen, collaborate, and work hard for Hayward.

If I can be of service to you, please reach out to me at [email protected]

Working together, we can continue moving Hayward forward.
