Accomplishments

• Co-Chaired a Hayward Ballot Measure campaign to bring in over $400 million over 20 years for core services for Hayward
• Championed the creation of the Russell City Redress Fund providing $1.3 million to former residents whose homes were taken without just compensation
• Stood up for affordable housing by approving 325 units of new affordable housing for Hayward
• Stood up for our nonprofits by not backing down on key funding recommendations to the City Council
• Became a substitute teacher to better understand what teachers were up against in our local schools
• Provides pro bono legal services to families and seniors
• Managed capital campaign for a new, state-of-the-art, senior center in Palo Alto
• Fought for indigent clients in the criminal justice system as a law clerk for the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office
• Provided research on homicide trends, controlling gun sales, and the San Francisco Promise project as a law clerk for the City of San Francisco Mayor’s Office
• Managed campaign expenditures and contributions to help elect Democratic candidates in Colorado
• In Washington, DC, provided research on raising asset limits for public assistance recipients so that they may save to invest in their future
• Fought for funding for homeless services like the Downtown Streets Team 

Hayward Is My Home

Hayward is a vibrant, thriving community. Here’s how I came to call Hayward my home.

When I met my husband, he lived near downtown Hayward. So, my introduction to the city was a magical one because it was the beginning of our now 20-year marriage. We explored the restaurants, hiked Garin Park, strolled the Japanese Garden and Hayward Shoreline, and enjoyed the Russell City Blues Festival.

Through our exploring, I came to realize that Hayward has it all: a diverse, welcoming community; all levels of education opportunity; a perfect climate; hills and bay trails to hike and bike; easy access to anywhere in the Bay Area. 

When we married and searched the Bay Area for our home, we chose to settle in Hayward, in the Fairway Park neighborhood. Since then, living and raising children here inspired me to get fully involved in the community and to make a difference. Now more than ever, Hayward is worth every hour I invest in it as a volunteer, mother, advocate and your councilmember. Especially now, after years living here, I’m proud to call Hayward my home!
